Transport in Jammu

Transport Type...

Auto rickshaw and Tempos

Jammu’s tempos are the city’s version of buses, touring the main streets and routes alongside the popular auto rickshaws. Tempos charge by the seat, but auto rickshaws are by km – it is recommended that those traveling with friends or family choose auto in order to split the bill. Negotiation with your rickshaw driver is an expected part of the process.

Taxi and Car

Taxis are an easily accessible method of transportation, serving travelers with a safe means of arrival. Jammu’s roads are in good shape for driving.

Train

The main train station is Jammu Tawi, allowing visitors access to neighbouring towns and attractions located on the outskirts of the city. Please note that the safety of traveling by train in the city is questionable – be sure to double check with security before traveling as robberies and attacks have occurred.

Rates depend on distance and the choice between sleeper car, first class or coach.
